We have started the injections

Ouch.
Saturday morning we were scheduled for a "loading dose" which required two separate injections. My husband was amazing. I started mixing the drugs but was nervous and was shaking a bit so he took over and was very calm. These injections are going in my stomach, so we did one on one side and one on the other. Not too bad we thought. This morning the injection hurt a little more and drew some blood. I don't have tons of fat on my stomach so he hit the muscle a bit. My stomach has been a little sore all day. I've been really tired and I have a bad headache. I'm sure it's just from the stress. Tonight's injection sucked. I thought I picked a good fatty spot and was in a good position. Nope, it hurt and I started crying. I don't know if I cried because it hurt or if because I was frustrated and started thinking of how much more we have to do. More injections, more blood, more ultrasounds etc.
This too shall pass.

Here is a picture of us mixing our injections Saturday morning.

Awesome! I started my lupron today too! I know you don't know me... but I found your blog from someone else's!!! You are now famous from Oprah :)

Good luck to you, I am wishing you the best luck and I hope we both become pregnant together this cycle!

Ah, the happy scene of domesticity... +needles! I've been doing a week of lupron and my husband has been amazing too, especially given that he HATES needles. We were told we could do lupron in the thigh or stomach and I've preferred the idea of the thighs so we've been sticking with that.

Good luck!

I know you're really nervous, but I always found that the easiest shots were the ones I gave myself. You can sort of poke around on your stomach to find a less sensitive spot. Pinch it, too, and stay within an inch or two of your belly button (or umbilicus, as the nurses say). I definitely know my way around a stomach shot after 6 IVF's including the last one with heparin shots twice a day before and during pregnancy. Save hubby for the PIO shots or other intramuscular shots...Good luck! We're all pulling for you!

See, Tracy? You should have not been such a kick-ass athlete. I've got plenty of belly fat if you need to borrow some :)

In all seriousness, you are very brave for doing this. I'm praying and crossing my fingers all the time for you.

Best of luck!

They do get easier and this will pass. In hindsight it seems such a brief interlude (and I did 5 IVFs) but, I know, from where you're sitting it seems to stretch on endlessly. I'll be thinking of you.

Hi Tracey,

My name is Melissa, 34 yrs. old, lives in LA and been going through my fertility journey for 4-1/2 years now. I've pretty much done everything from Clomid, IUI to IVF. One trick that surely have worked for me is numbing the area where you are injecting with ice for a couple of minutes. Also, after injecting, put a warm compress on the area for at least 10 minutes. Hope this helps. If you have any questions at all or just need to talk, e-mail me anytime. I would be glad to help. Also, I just recently started my blog called www.fertilitymoms.com. Please visit me sometime. :)

Good luck with your journey. I will be thinking and praying for you.

Melissa :)

Good luck, Tracey! I can't wait until you have to change the name of your blog.

Tracey, I saw you on Oprah and you are linked to a good friend of mines blog (fertilehope)
I wish you all the luck in the world. Scott and I are having the same struggle, but we are not using any other means except prayer. Our insurance covers nothing for IF and mortaging our house isn't an option at this time...(we had to retain legal counsel for Evan and a lawsuit against the school district)
Anyway, I hope it works out for you and Jaime.

Hi! I start injections this month. I am terrified of needles. Can anyone tell me how long the lupron needles are? They look awfully long! I am so worried that I won't be able to do this, and my husband travels a lot, so I know he won't be around. Also, how bad does it hurt? Equivalent to a bee sting? Any advice would be great!
